The new SL boasts a unique architecture, distinct from any other car. It propels its storied heritage forward with unprecedented handling innovations, including agile all-wheel drive performance and dynamic all-wheel steering.
A smart blend of aluminum, high-strength steel, magnesium, and fiber composites forms a body that is more rigid, safety-focused, and precisely crafted. This design also enhances aerodynamics and lowers the center of gravity.
The SL's triple-layer power soft top reduces nearly 50 pounds, significantly lowering the car's center of gravity. In just 15 seconds, it Z-folds to create its own rear deck, all without encroaching on trunk space.
The SL's active aerodynamics, featuring an advanced grille shutter system and a multistage rear spoiler, adapt to various conditions to optimize cooling, reduce drag, increase downforce, and enhance driving enjoyment in Enterprise.
In the SL cockpit, modern art and technology come together to offer visual, tactile, and practical benefits. The large displays are both stylish and functional, with the 11.9-inch central touchscreen tilt-adjustable to reduce glare when the top is down.
The multicontour front seats offer power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and active massage programs. The AIRSCARF® neck warming system, which extends the top-down driving season, is also standard.
The SL's "hyper-analog" cockpit blends luxurious materials and sculptural design within a highly digital setting. The reconfigurable instrument panel is nestled within a classic gauge visor, and the dashboard seamlessly flows into the doors.
Every aspect, from fuel pressure to exhaust routing, is designed to enhance and accelerate its responsiveness. Utilizing patented processes to reduce friction and incorporating a new generation of electrified performance, AMG® technology is driven by its racing success.
Each SL biturbo V8 is meticulously crafted by its own master. Coupled with an AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® MCT 9-speed transmission, the SL 55, with 469 hp, accelerates to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, while the 577 hp SL 63 achieves this in just 3.5 seconds, thanks to specific SL enhancements to both the engine and gearbox.
The standard AMG® Performance 4MATIC+ system intelligently distributes torque to all four wheels, a first for the SL. The SL 55 includes standard multimode adaptive damping, or you can choose the AMG® ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL option. Standard on the SL 63, this system actively adjusts each wheel to minimize body roll.
The exceptionally powerful 15.4-inch front brakes are equipped with 6-piston calipers in either red or yellow, depending on the model and trim. For Performance trims, track-ready AMG® Carbon Ceramic brakes are available as an option, offering larger size and reduced weight.
