Power Delivery
Currently, AMG is the only automaker in the industry that builds each of its engines by hand. Every AMG engine demonstrates technological leadership with advanced biturbos and comparably low fuel consumption. The AMG 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder, for example, is the most powerful of its kind, thanks to twin-scroll turbocharging. At the top of the heap rests the 621-hp V12, which is reserved for range-toppers like the AMG S 65 Cabriolet and AMG G 65 SUV.
AMG engines dish out immense power, but it’s the brand’s specially designed transmissions that harness it for drivers to mold. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT® PLUS 7G-TRONIC®, for example, includes three driver-selectable modes: Comfort, Sport, and Manual. With the push of a button, you can boost fuel-efficiency, raise shift points, or activate manual shifting. Special suspension with AMG elastokinematics, such as AMG Active Sport Suspension, lets Irvine drivers corner, cruise, and race at will. Your AMG, your terms.
AMG Performance 4MATIC® All-Wheel Drive
While there are plenty of high-performance all-wheel drive vehicles on the market, none operate quite like a Mercedes-AMG. Performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive is an AMG exclusive, and was adapted from Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC® technology for race-inspired performance. This system is comprised of rigid yet lightweight components, and intelligently distributes torque between the front and rear wheels. Performance 4MATIC® gives the already dexterous AMG lineup the gumption to travel city streets, highways, and backroads.
Performance 4MATIC® uses two crucial systems: 3-Stage Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) with a Sport Mode and 4-Wheel Electronic Traction System (4ETS®). ESP® features three modes: ESP® ON, ESP® SPORT HANDLING MODE, and ESP® OFF. As you sail down Orange County’s winding highways, ESP® promotes stability by braking a wheel’s as needed, giving you leeway here and there in Sport Mode. On the other hand, 4ETS® strengthens wheel-grip, so you can whip around corners and explore the backways in confidence.
