Now that 2011 is done and gone, we are all wondering how Mercedes-Benz performed. We are very happy to report that the results are in and Mercedes-Benz did very well, including their SUV and Crossover lines. The R-Class, G-Class, M-Class and GLK-Classes did remarkably well. They did so well that the demand for the listed models rose 24.3 percent when compared to the 2010 numbers.

The best performing vehicle in 2011 was the Mercedes-Benz R-Class with an increase of more than 50 percent in sales compared to 2010. Mercedes-Benz's R-Class is a luxury SUV that provides class-leading quality and performance with a best-in-class safety rating and is very comfortable allowing seven passengers to travel.

Head of Sale and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz, Joachim Schmidt, talks about the success that Mercedes-Benz is having with their award-winning SUVs. "With the launch of our first sport utility vehicle - the G-Class - more than 30 years ago, we entered a segment in which we are now very successful with a total of five models," he says. "The SUVs today are an important pillar of...[our] growth and have regularly posted a new sales record in every month  since July 2010."¹
